This family lost their cat when he climbed over a fence. For 4 days, they searched the nearby area for him but couldn't find him anywhere. Just when they were about to give up, one had a crazy idea, they started feeding a cat who stole food from them once and asked him where their cat was. They showed him a picture of their cat. After the cat finished eating, he started sniffing the humans hard and then began moving, he kept looking back to make sure they were following.

He took them straight to a backyard with lots of chicken. The white cat disappeared into a shed. An old man was standing there looking disgruntled. They asked if he'd seen a brown cat recently. That's when the old man said that he caught a cat who came to eat his chickens. Saying some chickens were injured.

Sure enough, when they peeked in, the brown cat was caged inside the shed. Upon seeing his owners, he began meowing, begging to be let out.

When they opened the door, the white cat slipped away quietly, knowing his job was done. The old man was no mosnter however, he actually fed the cat he caught. Even though it was mostly rice.

The brown cat looked dirty but otherwise fine. At least he looked guilty. Before leaving, the old man told them to keep a tighter leash on their cat otherwise he won't have any chickens come new year's.

I think the owners should at least compensate the old man a bit do you think so?

And yes, they should adopt the white stray cat too. The stray cat quickly slipped away, knowing he's not about to be locked up too.
